The Provincial Health Division (DPS) of Kwilu recorded at least a thousand deaths out of more than 1 million cases of malaria during the last year.

These figures were delivered on World Malaria Day, celebrated on April 25th of each year.

Most victims are notably pregnant women, children under five years old, as well as international travelers and others.

The launch ceremony was presided over by the Provincial Minister of EPST, Eric Muziazia, in the parish hall of Saint-Hyppolite in the city of Bandundu.

This ceremony was organized in collaboration with the National Malaria Control Program (PNLP).

The speakers emphasized that malaria constitutes a threat to public health in Kwilu and called on the population of the Kwilu province to embrace the fight against malaria.

They also made some requests to the health personnel, notably that of ensuring the availability of malaria control services through medication, good management of inputs, etc.
