Martin Fayulu, candidate for President of the Republic, flatly rejected the elections and the provisional results published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) on Sunday, December 31.

In a statement made to the nation, a few hours after the publication of these results, Martin Fayulu accused the president of this institution of serving only one person:

"Mr. Kadima and the CENI have just crossed the Rubicon, thus confirming that they were missionaries at the service of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo in an attempt to wash away the dishonor that has clung to him since 2018. Shame on them, because they have failed to do so. On the contrary, they have only added an extra layer."

The opponent believed that the elections were not regularly organized:

"Everyone knows that Mr. Tshisekedi Tshilombo cannot, under any circumstances, win an election organized regularly in the DRC. This is why I utterly reject the election shams and the fanciful results of the CENI."

The president of the political party ECIDE also called on the Congolese to "protest against this new coup d'État carried out by the CENI for the benefit of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo".

According to Martin Fayulu, the legitimacy crisis is becoming even more rooted in the DRC:

"Do not accept this new coup d'État. We must resist as Article 64 of the Constitution requires us to."

He consequently called for the organization of new elections to emerge from this crisis of legitimacy.

"We need new elections, credible, transparent, peaceful, and impartial elections," added the president of ECIDE.

Following the announcement of the provisional results by the CENI, Martin Fayulu finished in 3rd place with 960,478 votes, accounting for 5.33%.

He ranks behind Félix Tshisekedi (73.34%) and Moïse Katumbi (18.08%).
