Presidential candidate number 21 for the 2023 election, Martin Fayulu, arrived in Kikwit (Kwilu) on Thursday, December 14th. His meeting held at the central stand ended with a stone-throwing incident, according to his associates, resulting in several injuries and the arrests of some members of Lamuka.

With communication equipment not installed, Martin Fayulu held this meeting in Kikwit using a megaphone, and was barely heard by the crowd.

According to the executive secretary of ECIDE in Kwilu, Trésor Kindambi, the Kikwit city hall had banned the activity of this opponent at the central stand, despite their notification for information on Wednesday, in favor of the Sacred Union.

"We informed the city mayor since the president Martin Fayulu, number 21, was to arrive in Kikwit on Thursday, December 14th to hold his meeting at the stand, as everyone does. Unfortunately, in the morning, when we sent the instruments for setting up, the mayor had already begun to block access saying that it was the Sacred Union that had already requested the stand," accused Trésor Kindambi.

As soon as Martin Fayulu arrived with the crowd, according to the same source, the police were there. And the people from the Sacred Union themselves cleared the stand, allowing the president of ECIDE to hold his meeting.

"Unfortunately after that, there was stone-throwing, a lot of people got injured. We didn't set up the equipment, we were prevented by the city mayor because for him, we were not supposed to install the equipment there because it was Mboso who was supposed to be welcomed there," lamented Trésor Kindambi.

This latter deplored this "unworthy behavior," which falls within the framework of "the politics of the mayor of Kikwit whenever opponents come."

However, mayor Abbé Ngiama completely rejected all these accusations against him. According to him, no injuries were recorded, and there were no arrests.

It was on Wednesday night, he continued, that ECIDE would have submitted their request letter, beyond office hours.
