In a video recorded on Sunday, candidate Koffi Olomidé finally says he understands the meaning behind the withdrawal of the former Prime Minister, Samy Badibanga. The latter also threw in the towel, denouncing the corruption of the provincial deputies of the Eastern Kasai.

"I am making this video to announce to the nation and to all my compatriots that today, Sunday, April 28th, 2024, I have chosen to withdraw from the race for the Senate. [...] ", declared the candidate Antoine Agbepa Mumba, better known as Koffi Olomidé. He compared these events to the Western, in America.

"Today, the provincial assembly of South Ubangi has been emptied of all its provincial deputies. All, sequestered at the homes of certain presidents of certain political parties who, moreover, hold political functions in our country. The assembly has been emptied, so there is no one to talk to. The deputies have orders not to vote according to their conscience but to only execute the will of these political men and their parties. That's why I preferred to withdraw from this sham of a vote because there is no election! I used to think that a senator was someone of dignity but honestly, there is no honesty. There is no free vote. It is happening like in the Western in America. It's a shame for our nation," he declared.

He has promised to meet with the president of the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis Kadima, to discuss the issue. Meanwhile, he has called on the Congolese to boycott this senatorial vote which, according to him, is a disgrace for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
