This postponement follows the decision made by the stopping RCE 027 of last April 1st of the Court of Appeal of this province, which partially annulled its decision to publish the provisional results of the elections for provincial deputies, which took place on December 20, 2023.

The postponement of these elections, the same document states, also results from the observation made by the Court, on "the definitive ineligibility of gentlemen Lubanga Dylo Jean Chrysostome and Kahwa Panga Mandro Yves, as decided by the Constitutional Court in case RCE 0252 in September 2023," as can be read in the communique from the CENI.

Moreover, by the same judgement, the Ituri Court of Appeal, "acting as the Administrative Court of Appeal, ordered the CENI to proceed with a new allocation of seats in the electoral districts of Bunia city, and Irumu." And that the electoral campaign preceding these ballots, now set for May 8th, will start from May 4th, and will end on the evening of May 7th of the same month.
