On Monday, April 15, the family of the late Cherubin Okende filed a criminal complaint against an unknown person at the General Prosecutor's Office near the Court of Appeal.


Through this complaint, as explained by Me Laurent Onyemba, the family's lawyer who signed this complaint, the members of the deceased's family seek to initiate a new investigation that will identify the perpetrators, co-perpetrators, and possible accomplices in this assassination. It is advisable that your office opens new inquiries to establish the circumstances of this assassination.


Former Minister of Transport, Cherubin Okende, was found dead on July 13, 2023, inside his vehicle in Kinshasa. Presenting the findings of investigations carried out on this case during a press conference, including with the assistance of foreign experts, the general prosecutor stated: "In other words, the deceased Mr. Cherubin Okende, committed suicide".


The General Prosecutor near the Supreme Court, Firmin Mvonde, referring to the autopsy report and the investigations conducted on this matter, concluded that Cherubin Okende "died as a result of the hemorrhage caused by the wound from the firearm he used on himself".
