The federal president of the political party Together for the Republic in Ngandajika territory (Lomami), Pierre Kaleka, declared this Tuesday, November 21 to Radio Okapi, that he has been living in hiding since the night of last Monday, following an assault he was subjected to.

Indeed, on the same Monday, while he was in the middle of an electoral campaign, Pierre Kaleka, also a deputy candidate, was confronted by a group of young people, who were not otherwise identified.

They then went to his residence and to the headquarters of his party. They vandalized the place, the candidate laments.

"I had gone out for the campaign, as I am running for national and provincial deputy for the territory of Ngandajika, I was attacked at the Ngandajika station. It’s 50 meters away from a sub-CIAT (Editor's note: sub-commission of police), the young people came down to my house, household goods were looted. They left my place heading towards the party office. The party office is destroyed, looted, vandalized, and everything taken. My motorcycle burnt."

This opponent denounces the fact that these acts of vandalism were committed in the presence of police officers:

When contacted about this by Radio Okapi, the Ngandajika police commander refrained from commenting.
