"The resolution of the crisis in the Great Lakes region, which will be on the agenda. France, as you know, is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and could propose resolutions related to the situation in the eastern part of the country. There will also be a review of the main cooperation files since President Macron's last visit to Kinshasa, as well as meetings with senior French officials and discussions with the private sector," announced Tina Salama.

President Félix Tshisekedi will attend a ceremony at the Hôtel des Invalides, followed by visits to the Senate and the National Assembly, where he will engage with their presidents, Gérard Larcher and Yaël Braun-Pivet. A visit to the École de guerre (War College) in Paris is also planned, as France is already involved in the training of jungle combat battalions. "There is also the partnership we have with France for training instructors at the École de guerre in Kinshasa for Congolese officers," added the spokesperson. The day will conclude with the unveiling of the president's book at the Collège des Bernardins, Tina Salama clarified.

The following day will be dedicated to the meeting between the two Heads of State at Champs Elysées where a one-on-one lunch with President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled. The two hosts will also discuss development aid with budgetary agreements of nearly 500 million Euros through the French Development Agency (Agence française de développement). In the afternoon, Tshisekedi will participate in a roundtable with 40 business leaders at the Ministry of Finance in Bercy, aimed at strengthening economic ties between the DRC and France.

Diplomacy and economy are at the heart of this official visit of President Félix Tshisekedi to France.

The diplomatic aspect will be characterized by the crisis in the eastern part of the country. In its communiqué published on February 20th, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs had called on Rwanda to stop all support for the M23 and to withdraw from Congolese territory.
