Two alleged bandits were apprehended on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, by the residents in the Bigo Kolomani neighborhood in downtown Bunia, Ituri.

Both met their death, one succumbing on the spot and the other at the general hospital of reference where he was quickly transported.

These alleged bandits had knives, machetes, a hammer, and other bladed weapons. They were in a group of eight people trying to force the door of a house in the Bigo Kolomani neighborhood with their bladed weapons around 2 a.m.

A similar scenario on Gety Avenue in the Hoho neighborhood, where a group of alleged bandits was apprehended by the residents. They were spared thanks to the intervention of the police.

According to the Bunia city police commander, Colonel Abeli Mwangu, it is a network of criminals who are currently being sought and who are terrorizing the population in this part of the country.

"Lynching is punishable in the DRC, I urge you to collaborate with the police by denouncing the perpetrators of the crimes recorded in the various neighborhoods of the city of Bunia," he advised.
