On Monday, April 15, the Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Samy Adubango, encouraged the militiamen of Ituri to seek peace. "Those who continue their armed activities will have to assume the consequences," he warned.

He reminded: "The common enemy of the DRC is the M23, supported by the Rwandan army, and not the peaceful populations who suffer the atrocities of the armed groups."

For Samy Adubango, the time has come for all members of the armed groups active in the province of Ituri, who want to resolve their problems through arms, to be responsible for their actions. The youth who have taken up arms against the Republic must take advantage of the visit planned this week from the Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, Jean-Pierre Bemba, to Bunia. He invited them to work with him to find solutions for sustainable peace in Ituri.

This is yet another time that Samy Adubango Awotho, a native of this province, makes this call to the local armed groups.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, during a meeting upon his arrival in Bunia, the capital of Ituri province, he said to his own: "If you can hear me, my brothers (members of the armed groups), I repeat, it is a last opportunity, my brothers. If you do not listen to me, everyone will now see what will happen to him, because I am in the defense ministry and I am the leader of the coordinators of the state of siege. You can no longer point the finger of blame."
