The priests of the Archdiocese of Kinshasa, gathered within the Assembly of the Kinshasa clergy (ACKIN), have just come forward to support their bishop, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, following the news of the announcement of a judicial investigation against him.
In a message addressed to Catholic faithful, to men and women of good will titled "Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? Let us break their chains (Ps 2, 1-3),” they consider: "All the sermons, press briefings, and interviews of the Cardinal Archbishop of Kinshasa, as a shepherd, are based on the Catholic faith, strengthen the brothers in faith, and awaken the consciences of the faithful in the direct line of the social teachings of the church.”
As a result, they note, they can in no way deliberately violate consciences.
Thus, they further point out: "Calling for a united front to face external threats is nothing seditious. Likewise, demanding proper treatment for our soldiers at the front – is that discouraging them and calling for rebellion?"
Below is the message from ACKIN.
