It was during the celebration of the 138th edition of International Workers' Day, celebrated on May 1st each year. The day is themed nationally for 2024 as: "Peace and Security, a pledge for the promotion of labor".

Among these demands are notably the improvement of living conditions, wages, the minimum wage, and access to health care.

At the celebration of this May 1st, unions from various provinces took part in this ceremony to make their voices heard to the government, represented by the Minister of Employment, Labor and Social Welfare, Claudine Ndusi.

Guy Kuku raised several points, notably one concerning the labor of Congolese people. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Civil Service, Jean-Pierre Lihau, has been involved in mechanizing many youths. In the field of security, the coordinator of the Intersyndical believes that the government is not cooperative enough and does not show a willingness to negotiate. He recalled that despite 30 years of their demands going unmet, they have not reached out to the enemies of the country's peace.

In her timely speech, Minister Claudine Ndusi noted that the Congolese government has made efforts in several areas, especially in the field of social security, youth training, and in the revitalization of the National Employment Office (ONEM), after more than 10 years since its creation.
