On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, civil society urged the FARDC-UPDF coalition military forces to continue their operations in pursuit of the ADF, to allow the population of Ituri province to return to their respective localities.

The prevailing insecurity in the Irumu territory of Ituri province and in the Eringeti area of North Kivu province, where more than thirty thousand students, including eleven thousand girls, are penalized because they cannot go to school.

According to the civil society report, sixty-four primary schools, fourteen secondary schools, and one kindergarten located in Kasana in the Eringeti region of North Kivu, near the city of Bunia in the Irumu territory, are facing these challenges.

For more than two years, nearly seventy-nine primary and secondary schools in the EPST Irumu 1 sub-division have been facing difficulties in their operations.

The situation is the same on the Komanda-Luna axis, where nearly seventy schools are no longer functioning. They have been looted and set on fire by armed groups.
