M. Mvondo made it known in a letter addressed last Monday to the provincial attorneys general, reminding them of Felix Tshisekedi's indignation against attempts to corrupt major voters during the elections of senators and provincial governors.
The attorneys general must "take action to counter these regressive habits, both beforehand during the unfolding of said elections and afterwards to initiate public action for suspected or confirmed cases of corruption," the correspondence indicates.
The Attorney General of the Court of Cassation encourages the attorneys general to collaborate with the local officials of the CENI to establish an organization capable of detecting acts that could contribute to such corruption, "particularly ensuring the prohibition of mobile phones and any object equipped with a camera." According to him, the attorneys general must also make use of the procedure of flagrante delicto to initiate legal proceedings against the perpetrators of corruption, he insists.
