Moussa Mondo Sadr was arrested last Sunday following the death of his wife at the hospital and has been found guilty of homicide. Shortly before his wife was hospitalized, the former deputy minister had beaten her. His wife, a Malagasy woman, was taken to the hospital with a swollen face. Thus, Madame Khadidja Rabakomalala Alissa Mondo is believed to have succumbed to her injuries after domestic violence. Before his sentencing, Moussa Mondo denied assaulting his wife, claiming instead that she was suffering from cancer.

At the level of his political party, the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), Moussa Mondo Sadr has been excluded for a duration of "three months" pending the outcome of the investigations. The Muslim community of the DRC also took action against him. He has been banned from "wearing religious insignia or using the title of Imam" as well as "from participating in worship activities organized by the Council".

Moussa Mondo was a member of the government led by Prime Minister Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba under the FCC-CACH coalition from 2019 to 2021.
