After having asked during more than one year for the departure of the mercenaries who made worsen the situation in Libya, the Security Council worries now about their dispersion in the close countries. They would be more than 20 000, at least 13,000 Syrians and 11, 000 Sudanese. The presence of Russian militiamen of the Wagner group was always evoked too since the beginning of the Libyan conflict.

However, the UN request to cease-fire was heard recently and a device to make control this cease-fire was imagined. It should be set up in a few months

A new threat clarified with the death of Idriss Déby

All that lets well foresee the departure of the mercenaries. But the death, in vague circumstances, of the Chadian president Idriss Déby, who seems to have fought Chadian rebels from Libya, clarified the inherent risks in the movements of these mercenaries on the continent. They represent a new threat for the armies of the area, often in lack of equipment and badly trained, and still weaken a little more peace, from Sahel to the Horn of Africa.

Kenya required that the mandate of the UN political mission be extended to a control of the Libyan southern border, but the remainder of the Council estimates that it is too difficult to realize.
