Tear gas was fired near the headquarters of Martin Fayulu's party to disperse a handful of protesters. The headquarters of the Commitment for Citizenship and Development (ECIDé) is located on the avenue de l’Enseignement, in the Kalamu commune. Martin Fayulu has been present at this headquarters since 10 a.m.
Presidential candidates Théodore Ngoy, Jean-Claude Baende, Nkema Liloo, Martin Fayulu, and Denis Mukwege are expected to protest this Wednesday, December 27, to demand the reorganization of the elections with a new Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). However, the government, on its part, has banned this public demonstration, arguing that contestations of the elections should take place at an appropriate time before the Constitutional Court.
