The Congolese Press Agency (ACP) reports on the bombardment last Friday of the Mugunga displaced persons camps in the city of Goma by the Rwandan army and M23.

"The United States strongly condemns the attack (...) on the positions of the Rwandan armed forces and M23 at the Mugunga camp for displaced persons," declared Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department.

According to the ACP, "this accusation by Washington of Kigali's direct involvement in the tragedy unfolding in North Kivu is unusual and surprising for informed observers."

In the same vein, Forum des as reports in an article published on its inside pages that the United Nations Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) strongly condemn the bombing, on Thursday, May 3rd, of three displaced persons sites, in the neighborhoods of Lac-vert, Lushagala and Mugunga in Goma.

"We condemn in the strongest terms this shocking, merciless, and vile act of violence that has cost the lives of children, displaced persons, and their hosts in the most cruel way imaginable," stated Angèle Dikongué-Atangana, UNHCR Representative in the DRC.

Likewise, La Prospérité reports that the delegation of the European Union published jointly with the Ambassadors of its Member States a statement in which they strongly condemn these bombings, as well as the recent advances on the ground by M23 and its allies.

"Mugunga: Kinshasa to appeal to the United Nations," reports AfricaNews. Indeed, the 134th meeting of the Council of Ministers held Friday, May 3rd under the leadership of the outgoing Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, was dominated by the precarious security situation in the East of the country while Goma mourned its dead, the same morning, at the Mugunga displaced persons camp.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs was tasked with addressing the Security Council to "denounce this grisly crime, war crime, crime against humanity."

Forum des as publishes in full the exclusive interview granted to Le Figaro by Félix Tshisekedi during his stay in France, an occasion that led the Congolese president to ask Emmanuel Macron to use his influence to stop Kigali from plundering and terrorizing the East of the DRC.

To the question, "if a middle ground is not found, is a war possible between the DRC and Rwanda?", Félix Tshisekedi declared "that a war is possible, I'm not hiding it from you. But I want to push back that deadline as far as possible because I would rather put all our energy and resources towards the development of the 145 territories of the DRC rather than into military efforts. I have initiated numerous reforms to encourage our economy. Unfortunately, the insecurity in the east scares away investors. Nevertheless, I want to remain optimistic because our cause is just. We will eventually prevail."
