The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, has called on his African peers to banish hypocrisy at the mini-summit addressing the security situation in the Eastern DRC in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

"We cannot call ourselves brothers while at the same time stabbing each other in the back and casting the blame on non-African foreigners," Felix Antoine Tshisekedi denounced.

"Banishing scourges such as tribalism, hatred of the other. It is at that time we can talk about lowering our barriers, eliminating customs tariffs, etc.," he explained before denouncing: "At this time, when we are discussing the security situation in the Eastern DRC, in the Virunga Park, one of the most important natural reserves in the world in terms of forest and biodiversity, there is armed activism that harms this ecosystem's biodiversity, which destroys it. This was not decided in Washington, nor in Brussels, nor in London, but in Kigali. It's the deed of an African brother."

Faced with such matters, the President of the DRC stressed that he is not inclined to build a bridge but rather a wall to secure his population.

Furthermore, the Head of State recalled that after his election, during his first term 5 years ago, he visited the 9 neighboring countries of the DRC with the objective of discussing with his peers the necessity of living in unity, peace, and development for the benefit of our respective populations.
