The military court of the garrison in Kikwit, Kwilu, and Kwango sentenced Corporal Amani from the 112th battalion of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC/Kenge) to the death penalty on Thursday, November 16th, during the hearing on the case opposing the military auditor against this accused. He also must pay a fine of 50,000,000 Congolese Francs, to be distributed between the two civil parties, jointly with the Congolese State, which is civilly liable.

According to sources, it all began with a misunderstanding concerning the recovery of a sum of money. The convicted man shot at close range at his peers and then at the wife of one of his two first victims. The bullet also hit their child.

According to Actualite.cd, the condemned stated that he committed these acts to "leave traces, write a history within the Congolese army". This situation almost led to vigilante justice, as the population demanded revenge. The accused then attempted suicide to put an end to his prosecution.
