The Emeritus Archbishop of Lubumbashi in the province of Haut Katanga is immortalized by an avenue in the Manika commune in the city of Kolwezi, Lualaba province.

An avenue has been named Mgr Songa Songa in the Manika commune in Kolwezi, in the Lualaba province in the Southeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to immortalize the Emeritus Archbishop of Lubumbashi, the ACP learned on Sunday from a religious source.

The burgomaster of this commune, Thierry Sambumba, took advantage of a meeting to present to the Bishop of Kolwezi Mgr Richard Kazadi Kamba, a portrait depicting this avenue.

For the Bishop of Kolwezi, "This project of immortalizing my late predecessor Mgr Songa Songa by naming an avenue after him, is an honor made for the diocese of Kolwezi."

Appointed on June 11, 1998, as Archbishop of Lubumbashi by Pope John Paul II, Mgr Floribert Songa Songa Mwita was previously Bishop of Kolwezi. He died at the age of 83.
