In a letter addressed to the governor of the city of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila, and of which a copy has been received by Digital Congo, these Congolese Tutsis (Banyemera and Banyamulenge) assert their intention to march peacefully to denounce the lies of Kigali claiming to want to protect the Congolese Tutsis when Paul Kagame's regime is massacring them both inside the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Rwanda.

Furthermore, the choice of the date February 22, 2024, is not random. It commemorates the massacre of the Congolese Tutsi refugees in Rwanda on February 22, 2018, at a time when some had decided to return to Congo against the wishes of Kigali, which was holding them captive in a camp. The survivors were rescued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), according to testimony by Serge Muhizi Muheto, president of the Tutsi youth of Masisi and signatory of the letter addressed to the City Hall of Kinshasa.

This so-called peaceful demonstration will also be held to commemorate this massacre of Tutsi refugees in Rwanda. They also intend to denounce the "unfounded" statements of Rwandan President Paul Kagame at the African Union summit in Addis Ababa, who claims to protect the rights and lives of marginalized Tutsis in the DRC.

"The Rwanda massacres us in the DRC and everywhere in their home in Rwanda, Mundende and Kimira in 1997 and at the Kiziba camp on February 22, 2018," Serge Muhizi Muheto denounced in his letter.

The march, scheduled for 8:00 PM, will start from Place des Évolués, in Gombe, up to the Ministry of Justice. At Place des Évolués, testimonies from certain witnesses of these events will be heard.
