Indeed, some of the parliamentary candidates have expressed surprise at their disqualification given that their election had not been challenged before the High Court. They hope to prevail in their quest to correct the material errors made during the review of electoral disputes for the legislative elections on December 20, 2023.

Furthermore, it should be noted that these appeals are based on the jurisprudence of the same Court regarding the correction of material errors after the 2018 elections. At that time, the late president of the Constitutional Court, Benoît Lwamba, had established a special chamber to rule on material errors.

The same judicial sources indicate that the current president has ordered an end to the acceptance of these petitions at the registry, announcing that he will soon delve into all these requests to decide whether to establish such a chamber.

For the record, the Constitutional Court reinstated nearly 50 national deputies on March 12, replacing those who were already sitting in the hemicycle of the People's Palace.
