The European Union (EU) has just granted aid of 70 million euros to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons in the East of the DRC.

Its ambassador Nicolas Berlanga stated: “I would like to introduce myself officially and be able to explain the main directives of our work in Congo and (...) ask for advice regarding the security situation in the East of the country where the European Union has just granted aid of 70 million euros to try and alleviate some of the suffering of all these displaced people”.

Speaking on the military situation, he emphasized: "The European Union remains committed to its statement calling for the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from Congolese soil and the halt of Kagame regime's support to the M23”, while also noting: "The EU supports the dialogue initiative advocated by the Angolan President João Lourenço, designated facilitator by the African Union, so that hostilities cease in the East of the DRC".
