"I am fully aware of all the difficulties that this population is facing. But I see an unmatched resilience; it is a province that will undoubtedly continue to contribute greatly to the nation because I hope, from all I know, the steps taken by the head of state, the efforts made by our army to drive the enemy out. I am certain that this province will regain peace in the coming days and that it will be a model for many others," he declared.

However, regarding the withdrawal of the EAC Regional Force in the eastern DRC, Mbusa Nyamwisi confirmed that the withdrawal of the EAC force will continue until January 7, 2024, to withdraw its contingents, and it will be replaced by another regional force from SADC.

"And so, with the EAC force, we have decided that it should leave. It is indeed in the process of leaving. The SADC force is incoming. All this is part of the efforts to find peace. But this does not mean that we are leaving the EAC. Because a large part of our country is part of East Africa. There are tremendous economic interests. This changes nothing about the fact that we are telling them to leave from a military standpoint. There have been efforts, of course, they have helped to maintain a ceasefire, but we would have liked to have more. That is what we are still looking for," this member of the central government informed.
