As a guest on the "Infos vertes" program broadcasted on the Digital Congo TV channel, Bertin Mbuya, at the nursery called Bambouserai of UNIKIN, explained the rationale behind this project that also helps fight climate change and promotes the resilience of communities in the DRC.

"Bamboo is one of the most useful plants in the world because of its uses. Although it's a giant grass, it has strong capabilities to stabilize the soil against erosion with its robust and unparalleled root system, and due to its rapid growth. It sequesters 30 times more CO2 than the majority of trees because of a high photosynthetic capacity that is almost uninterrupted in all seasons of the tropical climate," explained Bertin Mbuya.

Furthermore, this environmentalist indicated that the pilot phase of his project funded by the National Forest Fund for the duration of one year has reached its end, but as its initiator, he remains open to any partnership.
