The United States has once again called for the Rwandan army and its weaponry to withdraw from the territory of the DRC.

In a statement, their embassy in Kinshasa condemns Rwanda's support for the armed group M 23 and calls for it to immediately withdraw all Rwanda Defence Force personnel from the DRC and to pull out its ground-to-air missile systems.

For the American government, these missiles threaten the lives of civilians, UN forces, other regional peacekeepers, humanitarian workers, and commercial flights in eastern DRC.

Similarly, the US government also calls on M 23 to immediately cease hostilities and to withdraw from their current positions around Sake and Goma.

The statement notes: "We continue to support regional diplomatic efforts that promote de-escalation and create the conditions for lasting peace in the DRC and we call on all parties to constructively engage in reaching a negotiated solution."

The USA firmly condemns the escalation of violence in the east of the DRC caused by the actions of the armed group M 23, which is sanctioned by the United States and the UN, including its recent incursions into the town of Sake.
