According to the assistant administrator of this territory, the 14 children who died were merely schoolchildren who succumbed after having their breakfast before setting off for school. He also claims that the deceased woman was the seller of this porridge.

"After consuming this porridge, people began to fall to the ground immediately. In total, we have already counted fifteen deaths and two more in critical condition. It's a situation that is not well understood by the population and there are tensions among the residents of Lugendo. It's worrying and inexplicable," said Raha Lukase, President of the New Dynamic of the Civil Society of this territory.

However, investigations are underway to determine how this cereal was poisoned, from purchase to cooking, and to establish responsibilities.
