Major General Peter Cirimwami, interim provincial governor of North Kivu, banned on Thursday, February 22, the illegal collection of taxes by fictitious agents at the Kituku port.

Among the taxes imposed by fictitious agents, there are environmental taxes whose price has been reduced to 500 Congolese francs.

The governor indicated that all these measures were taken following an inspection he conducted at the Kituku port where he observed the multiple hassles suffered by vendors and traders.

He also emphasized that among the taxes imposed by the fictitious agents, there are environmental taxes whose amount has been lowered to 500 Congolese francs.

The governor highlighted that talks are underway with a delegation that has been dispatched to examine the issue related to other taxes.
