Listening to the testimonies collected in the neighborhood, the victim was just passing by when the two soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) were arguing. Then, one of them, attempting to shoot the other, instead hit the young woman in the head, and she died on the spot.
The president of the youth of Karisimbi, Mr. Claude Rugo, states that the population, exasperated by such incidents, demands that these two soldiers be tried promptly at the scene of the crime. He also condemned the unchecked circulation of armed soldiers in the neighborhoods of Goma.
