The representative of Unpol/Monusco, Yulia Kim, indicated that this project was initiated and jointly funded by UNDP, the Korean Agency and the police component of Monusco. This new building reflects the United Nations' intention to manage the transition of Monusco in a responsible and transparent manner.

“These premises correspond to the international approach to law enforcement in the respect and protection of citizens in conflict with the law; it will provide a safe and adequate space to keep individuals involved in criminal activities with dignity while awaiting their transfer to the appropriate judicial authorities.

This office provides an adequate framework and the essential tools to fight crime by allowing data analysis,” said Yulia Kim in summary.

And to add:

“This is the first time that the criminal analysis office is made available to the police for the benefit of the judicial investigation.”

The deputy divisional commissioner of the police, Elias Tshibangu, specified that the acquisition of this criminal analysis building will increase and improve the professional capacity of national judicial police officers in their judicial governance.

He asked the judicial police to take ownership of this new building, to use and maintain it for better exploitation of the judicial function.

The deputy resident representative of UNDP in DRC, Rockya Ye Dieng, declared that this new building is equipped with computer tools and the building is part of the contribution of UNDP and its partners to the Joint Support Program for the Reform of the Police in DRC, which is in the process of being finalized to support progress in strengthening the rule of law, reforms in governance, and the fight against impunity, and this, in the perspective of stabilization and development of the country.

For UNDP/DRC, this building embodies the strong partnership between UNDP, KNPA, and Unpol/Monusco, as well as the willingness to work together to achieve common goals.
