More than 4000 hectares of cereals were devastated on Tuesday, December 12, by the waters of the tributaries of Lake Albert in the Irumu territory in the Ituri province. The populations of the following villages are affected by this tragedy: Nyamusasi, Bandoni, Mania, Fichama, Loromi, Bukuku, and Nyamamba.

Most of them are displaced returnees from war who mainly cultivate maize, beans, cassava, sweet potatoes, soybeans, peanuts, paddy, potatoes, and vegetables, etc.

They have issued a call for help to the provincial government for their food security.
