Over 4000 hectares of cereal crops were devastated on Tuesday, December 12, by the waters of the tributaries of Lake Albert in the Irumu territory of Ituri province. The populations from the following villages are affected by this catastrophe: Nyamusasi, Bandoni, Mania, Fichama, Loromi, Bukuku, and Nyamamba.
Most of them are war returnee displaced persons who are mainly engaged in cultivating maize, beans, cassava, sweet potatoes, soybeans, peanuts, paddy rice, potatoes, and vegetables, etc.
They have sent a distress call to the provincial government for their food security.
