Since Tuesday, February 20, health and school authorities have decided to close about ten schools affected by two contagious diseases, measles and bubonic plague, in the health zone of Rety, in the territory of Djugu in the province of Ituri.

This measure will last for three days. It concerns ten schools in particular: the primary schools Shun, Apolo, EP 2 Kpandroma, Gola, Baidjo, Bwa, Mont Bleu, and Rethy.

Health and school authorities have affirmed that they took this measure to protect the children against the spread of measles and bubonic plague, two contagious diseases.

They emphasize that this decision was made following about twenty cases of measles and bubonic plague recorded at EP Kpandroma.

They also note that more than three thousand children have stayed at home to prevent the spread of these two diseases.

Health and school authorities have announced that they are preparing to launch a campaign to eradicate these two contagious diseases and protect the population against them.
