A part of the wall of the annex to the New Riviera hotel in Bukavu, South Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo collapsed in the midday causing enormous damage this Tuesday, March 12.

The ACP, which provides this detailed information, quoting witnesses: "The damage is enormous. The guard post, the terrace and neighboring houses on one side are seriously damaged." These witnesses added: "We dare to believe that there are no human casualties, but the material damage is considerable."

Observers blame the architect of the structure who may have not taken into account the quality of the soil a few meters from Lake Kivu, explains the ACP, which also indicates: "Sources close to the management of this hotel report that these damages do not at all hinder the proper functioning of the hotel and clarify that the affected part was considered an annex and will be repaired by then," before reminding: "The New Riviera hotel is among the reference buildings not only in Bukavu but also throughout the South Kivu province."
