Delegations from the governments of the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Rwanda met in Luanda, Angola as part of negotiations taking place on the sidelines of a meeting between the presidents of the DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, and Rwanda, Paul Kagame.

"The high-level delegation from the DRC and Rwanda met on Thursday, March 21 in Luanda, under the mediation of the Republic of Angola, to analyze the issue of security and peace in the East of the DRC," reports the mediation of the Republic of Angola, conclude Congolese media outlets.

At the beginning of this week, the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs Christophe Lutundula carried a letter from President Tshisekedi to his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, the contents of which have not been revealed.

According to the Angolan Press Agency (ANGOP) cited by the same sources, the message from the Congolese President contained information relating to the preparation of the encounter between the presidents of the DRC and Rwanda.

But prior to that, it was the Rwandan president who was received by the Rwandan head of state, having a one-on-one with President Joao Lourenço. Kagame has expressed his agreement to meet President Tshisekedi, following the African Union's wish. However, the Congolese head of state has always conditioned any direct dialogue with Kagame on the withdrawal of Rwandan troops from Congolese territory.
