"I want to work to restore the image of the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo after several years in the dark," Jesus-Noel Sheke declared to the press.

And to add:

"At this stage, everyone must understand that the act we have just taken today should be seen as a dynamic in line with the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, who wants to see Kinshasa, just like all the other cities in the country, follow the path of its development. And the development we are advocating for the city of Kinshasa, we, as legislators of this city, believe also involves working to restore the image of its foremost institution.

We must restore the image of this institution, because the members of parliament must be fully committed to a rigorous oversight of the city of Kinshasa, but also through effective legislative production, which will enable us tomorrow to provide this city with a regulatory framework that matches its development ambitions, and also so that through the provincial elected officials, Kinshasa can take on a new momentum."
