The acting governor of the North-Kivu province, Major General Peter Cirimwami, has just bowed to public will by canceling on Monday an order from his predecessor that de-listed a part of the former ITIG cemetery in the city of Goma, according to local sources.

Indeed, he has repealed this decision at the request of the local civil society following criticism from the population.

According to the same sources, he has just signed an order prohibiting all works, of any kind, over the entire area of the cemetery, thus repealing the one dated April 15, 2021, concerning the de-listing of a part of this resting place for the dead located in the Kahembe subdivision, Kasirimbi commune.

In this order, the governor forbids any works, of whatever nature, on all blocks of the cemetery.

He has charged his chief of staff, his principal advisor in charge of Territorial Administration, the mayor of Goma, the public prosecutor of the High Court, the mayor of Kasirimbi commune, the conservators of land titles and the head of the land registry division of the Kasirimbi constituency with the execution of said order, indicate the same sources who explain: "The population of Goma expresses its satisfaction following this decision by the provincial authority which contributes to the respect owed to the deceased."
