A decision made at a meeting of the Urban Security Committee, held the same day. According to the president of the Beni Petroleum Association, Luc Machara, the oil companies made this decision thanks to the consensus that was reached in the presence of the prosecutor of Beni.

"We have been authorized to apply the price of 3500 Congolese francs per liter of petrol at the pump and for diesel we will apply the price of 3700 Congolese francs to relieve the population who are already in distress," he indicated.

Thus, he asks all the oil companies of Beni to freely go about their business and to reopen all the service stations so that the population can be supplied with fuel at a reasonable price, reports Radio Okapi.

For the record, the strike movement had been triggered last Monday and this, as part of a protest against the issuance by the public prosecutor at the Beni High Court of summonses against some of them in the context of price fixing of this black gold.
