The head of State alluded to the holding of local elections, in his speech on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the opening of 2nd National Forum on Decentralization focusing on the theme: "Evaluation of the process of implementation of decentralization, 13 years later ".

And to specify for the occasion that the urban, municipal and local elections will be held in 2020. For the President of the Republic, the non-holding of these elections is a brake on the implementation of public policies within the main entities.

It was also an opportunity for the Head of State to count on the recovery at the grassroots level through vital sectors, such as health, drinking water, education, agriculture and rural development, exclusive jurisdiction to be exercised by provinces and ETDs.

Especially since these sectors have a greater impact on improving the quality of life of the population, through the construction of strong local institutions.
