This global event now brings together nearly 190 countries and more than one billion human beings called upon to reflect on the Earth's ecological footprint and that of societies.

In the DRC and elsewhere, civil society gatherings are organized to support and encourage individuals and organizations to reduce their negative impact on the environment, particularly climate change and biodiversity loss.

Other ways to highlight the uniqueness of the Earth include being more attentive to waste management, planting trees, prioritizing soft mobility, or reducing energy consumption. It is also recommended to provide financial or volunteer support to organizations working in this field and to educate others about the consequences of biodiversity loss.

World Earth Day has been celebrated by the United Nations since 1970. It seeks to highlight the uniqueness of the planet and to raise awareness of the need to preserve its incredible diversity.
