The Congolese will finally have identity cards after nearly 40 years with the arrival of containers with equipment for issuing this document. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi, visited the site of the National Office of Transport (ONATRA) on Wednesday to view the first models of these facilities. He highlighted: "I understand the impatience of the population as it has been a long time since they have had identity cards. The process was a bit long but arduous. We began in June. We had to place orders for various equipment that was needed to start. Today, I am happy to announce to the population that all the materials for the 24 districts of Kinshasa are already here."

Peter Kazadi continued: "I came to visit the first model of the containers that will house the operations with all the machinery(...) we have validated the container model and in the coming days, a mass enrollment operation will be launched and every Congolese will be able to have their card. In the meantime, I have asked the service providers to open VIP offices. There will be one at the financial center and within my ministry, pending the deployment of the containers for the masses."

He further noted: "The work is predominantly electronic. We need to have electricity continuously, there is determination for things to be done as quickly as possible," he pointed out before announcing that the operation will begin in the city of Kinshasa before extending across the country.
