He further adds that the killed doctor was also one of the ADF leaders. He was Rwandan by nationality. He was killed along with his two bodyguards. At the end of this operation, two AK47 rifles and one civilian-type Walkie-talkie were also recovered.

Moussa Baluku designated as a Global Terrorist

As a reminder, in March 2021, the (American) State Department designated Moussa Baluku as a Global Terrorist. At the same time, the State Department also designated Daesch-RDC as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and SDGT, according to a message made public at the time by the U.S. Embassy in the DRC.

Following these designations, among other consequences, all assets and real estate interests of the designated individuals that are under the jurisdiction of the United States were blocked. It was also forbidden for American citizens to conduct transactions with them, adds the same source which also notes: "Foreign financial institutions that knowingly conduct or facilitate any significant transaction on behalf of Baluku or Daesch-RDC could be subject to American sanctions related to correspondent accounts or payable-through accounts.

Furthermore, it is a crime to deliberately provide material support or resources to Daesch-RDC, or to attempt to do so, or to conspire for that purpose."
