Calm has returned since Thursday, March 7, to Nyawaranga, in the territory of Uvira, South Kivu province, after the attack on the positions of the FARDC on patrol by the Twirwaneho militia.

The toll of this attack is three dead and several wounded.

This attack took place during a joint patrol between the Congolese and Burundian military who were at the village of Mugeti to head to Nyawaranga.

The goal of this patrol was to identify the positions of the Twirwaneho militia in Nyawaranga, within the territory of Uvira.

After being rooted out by the Congolese and Burundian military, the Twirwaneho militia moved down from the mountain to commit their act at the foot of the mountain.

Despite the rockets that the militia used against the position of the Congolese and Burundian soldiers, they ultimately succeeded in dislodging the enemy and taking control of that part of the mountain.
