Provincial deputy Lunanga Anani, rapporteur of the office of age, has issued the threat of invalidating the mandate of anyone who has not renounced other cumulated positions which are incompatible with the role of a provincial deputy. "All these deputies affected by incompatibility have eight days to resign from their mandates, and if they do not resign, we will take note, and they will lose their seats," he declared.

He also asked the members of the central or provincial government and other validated officeholders to make a choice to avoid the accumulation of roles.

It is worth noting that the validation of the mandates of these provincial elected officials is the result of the work of the eight commissions set up last week, and that each of these commissions claims to have consulted and verified every detail of each deputy temporarily proclaimed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).

Thus, 4 other traditional chief deputies are waiting for the next plenary session for the validation of their mandates. To this effect, Budget Minister Aimé Boji, whose mandate had just been validated, has reached out to the office of this deliberative body to cede his seat to his first alternate. The mandates of these provincial elected officials are validated at the same time as the Court of Appeal of Bukavu has concluded the examination of the electoral litigation of the 34 petitions contesting the results of CENI for the legislative elections in this part of the country. The verdict of this judicial institution is expected before March 28.
