It was through a press release published this Wednesday that the Congolese international striker announced his return to individual training sessions.

"Today, with a smile on my face as you wanted, God has graced me, I have resumed individual training," indicated the former striker of TP Mazembe who expressed gratitude towards everyone who supported him during this "difficult and critical moment."

"I saw how you showed your love for me, you supported me from close or afar, you left me messages, called, supported me with your prayers..." wrote the former player for Mouscron in Belgium.

The son of the legendary goalkeeper from the 80s and 90s, Merikani Mpangi did not fail, through the same statement, to thank his "club (FK Vojvodina - ФК Војводина), the embassy of the DRC in Serbia, the minister of Sports, the Congolese Federation (FECOFA), his family, his colleagues, all football lovers, as well as the entire Congolese community."

The 29-year-old player had experienced discomfort on September 14, 2023, during training with the Serbian club he had joined two months prior. He was returning from Kinshasa, where he had gone to support the national team for the decisive qualifying match for the CAN 2023 on September 9, 2023, against Sudan (2-0 victory).

The winner of CHAN 2016 with Meschack Elia's generation was then taken into emergency care at the central hospital of Novi Sad where he was hospitalized for over a month.

His contract with FK Vojvodina runs until June 2025.
