The Provincial Minister of Commerce of Haut Katanga, Céline Kanyeba has banned the consumption of brown sugar that is sold on the market in the Haut-Katanga province.

"This brown sugar of the 'Energy for life' brand originates from Zambia and is intended for industrial use, not for consumption," explained Céline Kanyeba. Because, she added, this product is a poison for the population.

To this end, she has convened a meeting with the responsible service officials and experts in importation to ask them to be vigilant about imported products.

She has expressed the desire to see all services suspend the sale of this product in the DRC and also to pursue all economic operators who engage in this practice, which she considers illegal.

The provincial minister in charge of commerce has also called for the involvement of all partners working in this sector to denounce the merchants of this sugar.
