The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi, ascribed during a press briefing in Kinshasa, on Monday, May 6, the murder of a mother and her 25-year-old son in Yolo Ezo, in the Kalamu commune, to a group of individuals dressed in police uniform.

"Information gathered on the spot and from unofficial sources indicates that this act was the work of agents of the National Police mobilized for the 'Operation Black Panther' led by the National Intervention Legion, which specifically aims to neutralize criminal gangs that threaten the security of the city of Kinshasa and its surroundings. However, when you look at the events we are lamenting, you will see that these are individuals acting in small groups. They are not part of the Operation Black Panther. They are criminals who must be denounced. The Operation Black Panther is conducted in a targeted manner; after gathering intelligence, we plan and choose a day to go down and arrest the criminals," he said.

He further announced that one of the members of this group is indeed caught in the police net and that the search continues to unmask these criminals.

According to the family, Mrs. Francine and her son Ismael Mukeba were riddled with bullets from Friday night to Saturday, May 4, by masked police officers.
