In his address, Félix Tshisekedi thanked the diplomatic corps for their "unwavering support" for the DRC. He also reassured that his country "will remain an open space for cooperation open to any win-win partnership in strict compliance with national laws, and in line with its new social project."
Addressing the security crisis raging in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Congolese president recalled the country's stance on the aggression it is facing.
"My government reiterates the non-negotiable nature of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the DRC (...) No dialogue can or will take place with our aggressor as long as they occupy, no matter the extent, any part of our territory," he warned.
Félix Tshisekedi also reassured that the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) will remain, whatever the cost, committed to pursuing the enemy to their last stronghold. He also made an urgent appeal to the UN bodies, to the African Union, and to regional organizations for the initiation of targeted sanctions against Rwandan officials and the M23 who are violating the sovereignty of the DRC.
The dean of diplomats in the DRC also spoke during this ceremony. Martin Chungong Ayafor, the ambassador of Cameroon and dean of the diplomatic corps in the DRC, expressed his hope to see the DRC move forward under the mandate of President Félix Tshisekedi.
