The Minister of Gender, Family, and Children, Mireille Masangu, proceeded on Thursday, February 15, during a ceremony in Kinshasa, to launch the preparatory activities for Women’s Month in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

For this edition, Mireille Masangu specified, there are plans for, among other things, support marches for the President of the Republic for the return of peace, radio and television broadcasts to raise awareness among Congolese women and girls to raise their voices and their initiatives, but also to allow the entire nation to assess the situation of women's rights in our country.

The Minister of Gender, Family, and Children also announced: "We are not in joy, we mourn together with our sisters who are experiencing the atrocities of war in the East of the DRC, to show them our solidarity."

Mireille Masangu took this opportunity to call on the women of the city of Kinshasa and those from the provinces to contribute to the solidarity fund in order to provide in-kind donations, food, and non-food items to our sisters and young girls who think that we do not care about them, quite the contrary we are determined for their causes, before reminding that Women's Day helps ensure the improvement of women's conditions and to measure their education in the evolution of development.

For Minister Mireille Masangu, the promotion and rights of women have become a national priority thanks to the determination of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, materialized by the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde through the empowerment, promotion, and protection of the Congolese woman.

As for her, the former Deputy Minister of Defense, Mrs. Séraphine Kiluba, reminded the women members of women's organizations of their roles for peace in their families and the entire nation.

She emphasized: "We are the pillar of the restoration of peace in our country. We must never be in complicity with the rebels to be the channel through which we kill our Congolese brothers and sisters, let us not contribute to these atrocities committed by the enemy to destroy our country," proposing to the Minister of Gender, Family, and Children to include in the activity framework, a day of prayer for the nation.

As a reminder, this year 2024, the international theme is: "Investing in women: Accelerating the pace" and the national theme: "Increasing necessary resources for women and girls in peace for a gender-balanced Congo."
